Name one successful business that doesn’t have an accounting department producing accurate numbers. It’s not even something I have to explain to you. You already know to be a success in business requires knowing your numbers, making the right profit, and cutting unnecessary expenses.
Not everybody understands the power of bookkeeping done correctly. Even those that see the value often miss the difference between an administrative bookkeeper and someone who understands which numbers need to be tracked and why. if you want success, if you want profits, you have to do the math.
When clients come into my office for the first time having a bookkeeper, they immediately see how much better things will be. What’s unfortunate is the number of businesses out there who have no CFO, and they have a bookkeeper who they think is doing that part of the job, but is really just entering numbers into a spreadsheet or into QuickBooks. Who is taking the next step and helping to identify where they need to focus their attention to improve their chances of success and reduce their risk of failure? Usually nobody.
what kind of bookkeeper do you have? None, someone who is just entering numbers, or someone who’s actually there looking out for you and helping your business succeed?
