In Washington, filing L & I is required. In my past experience and confirming with clients who still use QB Payroll, they don’t file WA L & I, that’s a good reason alone not to use QB Payroll. But the bigger reason is that when you call, it’s to an 800 number and they don’t know who you are, their timezones are different, and they can’t give you escalated service very easily.
That’s why I always recommend to my clients to work with a local payroll provider or at least someone who will give you their cell and is there to help. Then there’s the liability issue. Do you know how much the penalties are on filing L & I late? How about if you’ve been withholding based on the wrong tax rate, that’s on the business to know.
Last and most important to me is that they also deal with Background checks, HR, health insurance, vacation, Paid time off, reimbursements, payments to contractors, 1099’s, W-2’s, and offer 401K and employee profit sharing too. You also have to consider the benefit of not falling behind on your 941’s and the ability to grow due to knowing a large pro is standing with you to ensure you’re following the laws.
Let me introduce you to someone. It will make your life so much easier.
